GLORIOSA2 (2023) for realtime Csound (PC and Android versions) An Alternate Version of GLORIOSA (2023) for realtime Csound Arthur B. Hunkins abhunkin@uncg.edu www.arthunkins.com GENERAL In nearly all respects this alternate version of GLORIOSA is the same as the original. The number of the the various .csd's is identical, as are their hardware requirements. Except for the two features described below, all explanations and suggestions for performance given in Gloriosa.txt apply equally to GLORIOSA2. THE TWO DIFFERENCES 1) Most importantly, sliders 1 and 2 have different, though related, functions. In the original GLORIOSA, both sliders are "masters" - each assigned to one of the two harmonic clusters. In GLORIOSA2, slider 1 controls the volume of *both* clusters. Slider 2 now handles the *relative* volume of the two clusters by crossfading them. Cluster 1 fades in from a zero setting (0 to 1), while cluster 2 does the same in reverse - starting from max (1 to 0). At .5, both have reached nearly full level; the effect is similar to when, in GLORIOSA, both sliders are close to all the way up. The result is that *overall* level remains fairly constant in GLORIOSA2, whereas in the original there is a marked fade when one cluster goes to zero. It is to be anticipated here that much of the performance will have slider 2 near its midpoint. (By comparison, GLORIOSA's two sliders will generally track each other - often remaining at or near maximum.) 2) The two clusters here are centered somewhat closer to the midpoint in stereo space, whereas in GLORIOSA they are positioned more toword the extremes. This feature does not affect actual performance in any way.
